Regional funds give more and more advantages and the diversity increases. You should increase your portfolio diversity with funds from other regions. For the case you are looking for a type of mutual fund that will help to diversify the portfolio without a lot of work, then it might be interesting for you  to invest in regional funds. These regional funds are designed with investments in companies throughout a special particular region. These possibility is also very good if you are looking for a way to invest in a special region, or in a extraordinary type of industry, but if you do not have the time to research the markets in each specific country on your own it is mostly better to invest in a regional fund and other persons do the work for you. 

Regional funds can invest in only one  continent, or in part of a continent. As an example, you can get regional funds that are concentrated on  Central America, Africa, Europe, Russia, South America, or East Asia. You can also find Asian regional funds and some that are based more on the economies of the Arabic area.

These funds work in much the same way as other mutual funds, with the exception that they are based in certain regions of the world. There is nothing else to do than to buy a few shares in the mutual fund. Then the manager of the fund will make sure that the fund is invested in the right companies to keep your investments properly diverse and in a optimum condition.

There is one other thing that you should keep in mind. There exist different types of regional funds. A lot of the funds only contain companies from a particular region, but funds have got a more specific policy. These funds have limitations regard two things, at first the region from which the companies come from and second the type of industry that they are. By this reason you might look for a fund that is in one particular region that also focuses on that region's most lucrative section of its economy. It depends on your opinion what the best the fund should contain. 

There exist many options and it is therefore a good idea if you are looking to increase the diversity of your portfolio by adding a special type of industry or a special area that you do not already have. However, all these funds will not be as diverse on their own as some of the funds that you have already purchased. By this reason it is better to purchase regional funds that are in only one industry in conjunction with other bond, mutual funds or stocks.  The result will be that you have a geographically diverse portfolio.
